Helio Santos is a digital artist with that special capacity to move us, make us feel something with AI ~ Romantic landscape & poetry performance reimagined & corroded. I’d been admiring Helios’ work all year and when I saw he was starting to animate his works I reached out, because I realized it was more than time for us to collaborate. The contemporizing of his visions of nature are more important to our world than ever before, the way the Romantics saw, valued and experienced nature was symbiotic to the spiritual and emotional life of all people. Now in many cases we watch it behind screens.

TALL TREES

Tall trees catch wind,

Tall trees burnt by tiny flames,

Tall trees burdened by baddest days,

Tall trees stripped of their skin,

Above the skyline, a halo of leaves,

Redwood and pine,

Home to discarded nests,

Nature’s insignia in vines,

Squawking scratching buzzards,

Echoing in fields of lupine,

What do you see in Arcadian forests?

The best of yourself?

Or the dark patches where the satyrs rest,

The ebb of narrow passages where the wealth flows,

Into the hallows and out of the shallows,

A long way up to the top of the trunk,

At least up there is the sun,

We all start out in the shadows,
